My concept for this year's RoboSumo Cup is to create a RoboSumo related montage on the desktop, take a screenshot, then print that on the mug.
Printful mug image dimensions for wraparound printing: 2700x1050 px.
Printful say image "The print area may vary by +/- 0.1″ (0.25 cm)" so I left a 30 px transparent border around all edges.
Hence, image dimensions within border are: 2640x990 px.
To set desktop dimensions to 2460x990 px in Debian 12, I used the following command, which produced an error but did set the desktop to the required dimensions (with horizontal scrolling):
I set the XFCE panels to autohide and set them to be completely transparent when the mouse leaves them so that the thin visible line when they autohide is not visible at the edge of the screenshot.
I arranged the following elements into a montage:
ffplay
Premier Executive notebook.
The world's premier technical sketching pencil, the Staedtler Mars Lumograph 2B.
The Casio F-91W displaying this year's winning Track TT time on the stopwatch.
A mini breadboard with Arduino, TCRT5000, resistors, etc. The actual circuit is a working photoplethysmograph (PPG), which I used in my TU805 guest lecture this year.
A Chromium browser window with the Jotz CMS editor loaded. The text shown in the edit box is a quote from Terminator 2: Judgement Day describing the rise of Skynet.
An Inkscape window showing the Track TT track design. This is adapted from the actual file used to cut the track pieces. The colour settings were modified in Inkscape to give it a "blueprint" appearance.
An Arduino IDE window with example robot control code - a very concise spin-and-charge program.
The world's greatest and best text editor, Vim, showing a summary of the M-FECKRS principles of metacognition.
