Assignment design principles
Desirable attributes for assignments:
- Low maintenance grading
- Immediate feedback to learners when they are doing it right or wrong
- Must include element of getting something working
- Troubleshooting
- Mixture of prescriptive and open-ended elements
- Possible to undertake the work at different levels of complexity
- Students should be able to undertake the practical work with a high level of independence - e.g. kit based.
