Assignment design principles

Desirable attributes for assignments:

• Low maintenance grading
• Immediate feedback to learners when they are doing it right or wrong
• Must include element of getting something working
• Troubleshooting
• Mixture of prescriptive and open-ended elements
• Possible to undertake the work at different levels of complexity
• Students should be able to undertake the practical work with a high level of independence - e.g. kit based.
